30 June Deadline for Fire Safety Regulation Compliance

Queensland building occupiers have until 30th June 2009 to comply with the requirements of the recently released Queensland Building Fire Safety Regulation 2008.

The updated Regulation now requires all building occupiers in Queensland to have:

  • a documented emergency plan
  • emergency evacuation signs
  • general evacuation instruction (staff induction training)
  • evacuation coordination instruction (warden training)
  • fire extinguisher instruction
  • evacuation exercises
  • Fire Safety Advisers in high occupancy buidings, as defined in the Regulation
