To help our clients identify their fire safety & emergency training needs, and to navigate through the required legislation and Australian Standards, DELTRA Australia has created a "Fire Safety Training Needs Analysis Tool".

This simple-to-use tool allows clients to identify what training must be covered at their own site according to AS3745, the Queensland Building Fire Safety Regulation and the Tasmanian General Fire Regulations. Reference is made to each section of the legislation and Australian Standards to assist you to identify your training needs.

Using the Fire Safety Training Needs Analysis Tool is as simple as recording the number of workers that you have at your site and choosing the State or Territory in which your site is located. It's that easy!

Fire Safety Adviser Recertification Courses Now Underway

Fire Safety Adviser Recertification courses are now being offered by DELTRA Australia.

It is now 3 years since the commencement of the Qld Building Fire Safety Regulation 2008, and Fire Safety Advisors who received their certification in 2008 are now due for renewal.

DELTRA Australia offers a simple 3-step process in which existing Fire Safety Advisers can renew their qualification:

Complete an online assessment
Conduct a fire safety audit in your workplace
Attend a one-day refresher course

Fire Safety Advisor Recertification courses are held on a regular basis. Students are required to complete the Fire Safety Advisor Recertification course prior to the expiry of their current certificate.

DELTRA Australia now offsets the carbon emission produced by our vehicles by planting trees. This is done through Greenfleet, a not-for-proft organisation which encourages "organisations and individuals to reduce the greenhouse gases they produce and then offset their remaining emissions by planting native forests. The forests we plant do more than take carbon from the atmosphere. We plant a wide variety of native trees in permanent forests that help to reduce salinity and soil erosion and provide essential habitat for native wildlife."

NEW! Fire Occupational Licensing for 2009

Fire Occupational Licensing will be introduced in Queensland commencing 1st January 2009. This means that all persons working in the fire protection industry will be required to hold a licence for their specific type of work from the Qld Building Services Authority. Licence classes include:

Emergency Lighting
Fire Hydrants and Hose Reels
Passive Fire Protection Fire and Smoke Walls and Ceilings
Portable Fire Equipment and Hose Reels (Hose Reels Down Stream of Stop Cock ONLY)
Emergency Procedures
Fire Pumps
Passive Fire Protection Fire Collars Penetrations and Joint Ceiling
Special Hazard Suppression System
Fire Detection Alarm and Warning Systems
Fire Safety Professional
Passive Fire Protection Fire Doors and Shutter
Sprinkler and Suppression Systems (Reticulated Water Based)

DELTRA Australia is currently able to provide relevant technical qualifications for the following licenses:

Emergency Procedures (refer Fire Safety Adviser course)
Fire Hydrants and Hose Reels (refer Certificate II in Asset Maintenance qualification)
Portable Fire Equipment and Hose Reels (Hose Reels Down Stream of Stop Cock ONLY) (refer Certificate II in Asset Maintenance qualification)

DELTRA Australia will provide technical qualifications for the following licenses mid-2009:

Course Upgrade for Asset Maintenance

PRM20404 Certificate II in Asset Maintenance (Fire Protection Equipment) has now been superseded by PRM20406. There are still 12 Units of Competency to complete, however the makeup of these units has undergone some changes.

DELTRA Australia's RTO registration to deliver the Asset Maintenance Training Package was successfully updated to the new PRM20406 in November 2008. DELTRA Australia staff are currently working on the new course materials to support PRM20406 for delivery of the first course in February 2009.

New! Fire Safety Adviser

Fire Safety Advisers are now required under the recently released Queensland Building Fire Safety Regulation 2008. High occupancy buildings, as defined in the Regulation, are required to appoint a Fire Safety Adviser who is responsible for ensuring that training requirements of the Regulation are met. A copy of the Queensland Building Fire Safety Regulation 2008 may be downloaded from our links web page.

DELTRA Australia conducts Fire Safety Advisor courses on a regular basis. Fire Safety Advisor courses may only be conducted by Registered Training Organisations, and the course is nationally recognised within the Public Safety Training Package.
